Byline

Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Byline collects, why, who it is shared with and the choices you have.

Who we are

Byline is operated by Ajuta AI (“we”). Contact: the support email shown at the bottom of every page.

What we collect

  • Account details: name, email, password (stored only as a secure hash), country, job title and organisation if you give them.
  • Your work: the notes, recordings, drafts and translations you create.
  • Usage: which templates and models you use and how many words, to apply your plan’s limits and show your usage.
  • Payments: the plan, amount and payment reference. Card and mobile-money details are handled by the payment provider, not by us.
  • WhatsApp: if you link your number, your phone number and the messages you send to the Byline number.
  • Technical data: IP address and browser type, for security and to prevent abuse.

Why we use it

  • To provide the service you signed up for, including sending your notes to the AI provider you choose to produce your draft.
  • To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse.
  • To send service emails (sign-in codes, receipts, trial reminders) and, only if you agree, tips about using Byline.

AI providers

To write your drafts, your notes are sent to the AI provider behind the model we use (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Groq or Mistral). For some languages, such as Chichewa, the finished story is translated with Google Translate. Transcription is sent to the speech provider set by us. They process the data on our behalf to produce your result. We do not use your work to train AI models.

Other providers

Payments: Stripe and PayChangu. Messaging: Meta (WhatsApp). Email delivery: our email provider. Push notifications for the mobile app: Expo.

How long we keep data

Your work is kept while your account is open. When you delete your account, your drafts, recordings and history are deleted and your account details are removed; payment records are kept as the law requires.

Your rights

You can see, export, correct and delete your data. Delete your account at any time from your profile in the workspace, or follow the steps on the “Delete your data” page.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and, if you choose “Keep me signed in”, a cookie that remembers you for 30 days. If analytics is switched on, Google Analytics sets its own cookies.

Changes

We will post any changes here and tell signed-in users about important ones.
